The Visual Supervisor will manage a wider team of Visual Merchandisers, working across departments within a store to create displays in line with company guidelines and targets. Often, the post holder will work alongside Store Managers to develop new themes or ideas in line with current ranges or products, whilst working alongside the Visual Merchandising team. The Visual Supervisor must have excellent customer service skills and product knowledge, as they usually spend a great deal of their time on the shop floor, creating window or shop displays, or working alongside Merchandisers.
- Although there are no specific requirements for formal qualifications, some employers may seek candidates with a Diploma or a Degree, although this is not always necessary. Individuals who are already established Visual Merchandisers may be successful, although this is not always the case.
- Most employers will want a candidate who has experience working in retail. Relevant work experience is always essential, as it displays good understanding of the work environment.
- Salaries for a Visual Supervisor can range from around £20,000 to £40,000. Larger companies may offer salaries in excess of this.
