Operations Director


The Operations Director holds all responsibility for retail operations within the company, driving sales in all stores. They will plan new store openings, working alongside other departments such as Marketing and Merchandising to ensure the store is a success, as well as determining new site locations and having some input in recruitment. The post holder will often be in charge of staff development, aiming to hit sales targets through good customer service and managerial skills, as well as working with budgets. They must implement new strategies and guidelines from within the company and improve business processes. The Operations Director will ensure all health and safety guidelines are met and educate staff on these rules.

Experience Requirements

  • Many employers will seek individuals who have previously held roles in Retail Operations Management or Regional Store Management. Work experience, either through past employment or placements is highly recommended to increase chances of success.
  • Due to the level of this role, some employers may look for candidates with a Degree, although this is not always necessary and should be verified.

Salary Opportunities

  • Salaries for an Operations Director can range from £40,000 to £80,000 depending on the size and turnover of the company. Levels of experience are often a key indicator.
